It's National Sewing Month! Let's Get Sewing!

Today is the day that I dust of the machines and get back to my favorite pastime, sewing!  After adding some oil that is!  It has been well over a month now since either one of has sewn a stitch. Ugh!

Growing your own food will do that to your summer schedule, as we have become accustom to in recent years.  Preparing for retirement has a whole new meaning for us today as compared to 20 years ago.  Today, we are discovering how each of our skill sets can generate the retirement income that we require and sewing is one of the most promising skills that we continue to improve upon.

We love to sew quilts, plain and simple.  Handmade quilts can generate a very nice side income, but there are so many other opportunities these days!  Personally, I am interested in developing pantograph designs for longarm quilters.  Then, there is the whole educational aspect of offering classes, both in person and online.  So many possibilities, it really is an exciting time for the entire sewing industry!

So, today we will open up the sewing room while our freshly canned goods cool on the counter.  Pick up our projects where we left off as summer gardens grew and get back to creating some lovely textiles.  Hopefully, to someday grace your homes with warmth, beauty and the comforts of our home to yours.
